Creditors that want to collect any money from a debtor based upon the judgment must take further action to do so. A creditor may collect the debt by having a sheriff take some of the debtor’s real or personal property to sell at a public sale. The proceeds of the sale are then applied to pay some or all of the judgment depending on the funds received from the public sale. The creditor may also take money from the debtor’s bank accounts or if the debtor has a job, a creditor can garnish wages through direct payments from the debtor’s employer.

Are you a creditor with a judgment from a state other than Oregon, and the person who owes you the money lives in Oregon? If so, let Deborah K. Vincent, Attorney at Law, file your foreign judgment in the Circuit Court of the State of Oregon and collect that judgment for you.
